Marathoner perk is the worst perk. When you choose between Marathoner and Sprinter, you are basically going “do you wanna go faster or slower”. It just makes Sprinter all the better though because all that speed that Sprinter gives you is really good for combat. Also, both sprinter and Marathoner run the same distance.
I remember people (town scum) getting pissed in earlier versions, but not since 1.3 I believe. You need to be in combat now probably, and mind that you get a bonus on damage if your armour kit is heavier than the foe's. EDIT: Boar perk should definitely work, as someone told me that he "hunts" hares by running them over on foot two days ago.
